Most people ordering an outdoor banner for the first time choose solid PVC. It is the default. The most widely used outdoor banner material in the UK. And for most applications, it is completely correct.
But put a large solid PVC banner on an exposed scaffold frame, a Heras fence line or a building wrap in a windy urban location, and you have a problem. The material acts like a sail. Every square metre of surface pushes against its fixings in a gust. Something eventually gives.

The trade-off is that it offers no resistance to wind. It catches it. In a sheltered location where the banner is backed by a wall or hoarding board, this is irrelevant. In an exposed location where the wind can reach the back of the banner, it becomes a structural problem.
What Is Mesh PVC?
Mesh banner material has thousands of small perforations through the printed surface, typically covering around 30% of the total area. Air passes through these holes rather than building up pressure against the face of the banner. This dramatically reduces the load on the fixing points and on whatever structure the banner is attached to.
The trade-off is a slight reduction in colour saturation. With 30% of the surface perforated, the graphic covers approximately 70% of the material.
